The Tsho Rolpa Glacier Lake Trek presents one of the most spectacular views of the Nepalese geography and history. The Everest and Langtang mountain ranges are separated by Tsho Rolpa. This lake is one of the largest glacial lakes in Nepal with a depth of 270m and occupies an area of 1537 square kilometers. This trek is quite different from other treks since the waters are turquoise, and both the Hindus and Buddhists will find the place of utmost significance.
March to May and September to November are the ideal times of year to plan this walk. A trekking tour that starts from Dolakha, the historic trading center of the northeastern part of Nepal. From here you will start your trek towards the Rolwaling valley – the valley is also known as one of the seven secret valleys where Yeti resides. You’ll get the opportunity to view Gauri Shankar and Menlungtse mountains in route, which stand tall and majestic.

On the first day, you will be in Nepal's capital. You will go directly to your hotel to check-in. On this day you can shop for the trek things also you can visit nearby places such as Durbar Square or Thamel the busiest market area of Nepal.
On this day you will take an early drive of 7-8 hours almost 195km to reach Chetchet of Dolakaha district. The driving route follows Kathmandu-Dolalghat-Mudhe-Charikot-singari-Chetchet. From Chetchet your trek will begin with Panoramic views of terraced fields, lush forests, and rural villages. To reach Simigaun, you should trek for two hours. In Simigaun, one may now stay for one night in a hotel or homestay.
Early morning you will wake up, and have breakfast at Simigaun and you will begin your trek. On the third day, you will trek for 6-7 hours and the real trek begins. In this route, you can explore Uttise and Surmuche villages before reaching Dongang. You will see the Serene trails surrounded by dense forests of rhododendron and pine. Overnight you will take a rest in Dongang village and have delicious food.
You will follow the Rolwaling River route to reach Beding from Dongang. Beding village is full of a sherpa community. In this, you can interact with them and experience their culture and lifestyles. On this day, you will get a chance to explore the peaceful grazing area of Thanding Kharka. You will spend the night in Beding Village.
You will start your trip to Naa village after having an early morning breakfast. Naa village is also the gateway to the wonderful Tsho Rolpa Lake. The people get attracted to Naa village due to the peaceful view of the Rolwaling mountain range. Also, the culture, tradition, and lifestyle of Sherpas can be explored in Naa village. Overnight stay in a teahouse in Naa village.
On this day, you will be resting at a high elevation. You can explore Naa village and nearby areas. In this village, you have an option for short hikes to acclimatize further. This day you can prepare for the final destination. With friends, you will spend the night in the same hotel and have fun.
Trekking to Tsho Rolpa will be done today. It will take 2-3 hours to reach Tsho Rolpa Lake from Naa village. And then after having visited Tsho Rolpa Glacier Lake which is situated near snow-capped mountains, you will back to Naa village. You have to come back to Naa village after visiting Tsho Rolpa Lake.
You will walk from Naa to Dongang in the morning. Trek will be almost of 6-7hours. You will retrace your steps while enjoying different perspectives of the valley. You will stay overnight in a teahouse in Dongang village.
This is the final day of your hike down to Chetchet from Tsho Rolpa Lake. You will trek to the Chet Chet from where you can have your drive back to Kathmandu Valley. You will enjoy the changing landscapes and bid farewell to the mountains. Your overnight accommodations will be in Chetchet.
You will have a drive to Kathmandu Valley today. And finally, after the quite tough but extremely interesting hike to the Tsho Rolpa Lake in the Rolwaling Valley you will be in the capital of Nepal. You can take your evening on shopping or in a restaurant and bar within Thamel. You can relax this night at a hotel. The next day you can move to your town or country.
Trek is not challenging as you think. It is quite interesting than other treks. Before beginning the walk, you must train yourself. Tsho Rolpa is in higher altitude so some one can suffer from altitude sickness. Therefore, before beginning this hike, you should drink a lot of water. There is no road on the track, and it has steep hills, slopes, and drops. Before your hike, check the weather. Pack water, food, and other necessities for your hike. If you are prepared, the travel to Tsho Rolpa is not too tough.
This trek is best enjoyed from March to May and from September to November in the fall. The weather is consistent this month, making it an excellent time to go trekking. You can view rhododendrons and other blooms throughout this season. Treks in Tsho Rolpa are challenging if you visit at a different season.
