Visa Procedure

In Nepal, the Department of Immigration is fully responsible and has been facilitating tourists' visits and explorations by giving them visas. Getting a visa to Nepal is quick and simple, as there is a facility for both “Tourist VISA” and "On Arrival" visa procedures.
 

Nepal's visa services are very high during tourist season, so you have been provided with optional tourist visa services from the Nepalese Diplomatic Missions Center. Also, you can get your "On Arrival" visa, skipping the high traffic in the peak season. You can choose any of the prior places to get your visas.

In case if you have got your VISA from the Nepalese Diplomatic Missions center then you have to get to Nepal within six months from the issued date of your VISA. Also, your staycation is counted from the day you enter here in Nepal. 

The VISAs you will be getting will be "Tourist VISAs" which is the only entry VISA to get here in Nepal as this also includes multiple Re-Entry facilities. If you are visiting here for purposes like touring and traveling, trekking, meet-up, and sightseeing then you have to come under "Tourist VISA" but if you are coming here for another purpose then you must select the VISA category mentioning your purpose and the total staycation in Nepal from the Department of Immigration by completing all the procedure and fulling the required documents.

Required documents for getting a Tourist VISA in Nepal

  • Original passport with validation of at least another six months with a minimum of two blank VISA pages.
  • Passport photocopy of your personal credentials page.
  • Pair of passport-size photos with a white background of 1.5 inches x 1.5 inches.
  • Print of verified and signed Nepal VISA Application Form.
  • Evidence of accommodation and staycation in Nepal like hotel reservation or an address you residing.
  • Authentic return flight or a travel ticket.
  • Bank statement of at least the past three months as proof of your finances which need to be sufficient to cover up your staycation in Nepal.
  • Receipt of payment at Nepal VISA Fee.

Note: The requirement for documents may change depending on the purpose of your travel to Nepal which may change. So, it will be better if you fill out the online form then you will be able to know the exact documents you need to have before appearing in immigration. Also, if you are traveling for any other purposes then you need to make sure the requirements of the document as your VISA type from the official page of the  Nepal Department of Immigration.

Step-by-Step VISA Guide for a "Tourist VISA" for Nepal

Depending on the reason and the category of your VISA  matching the purpose and duration of your travel by the Department of Immigration the VISA is issued to you. 

 

Nepal Tourist VISA

This type of VISA is issued to all the people of foreign countries who want to visit Nepal for Tourism activities. 

 

Nepal VISA On Arrival 

This VISA is not a different VISA but to get the On Arrival visa you need to visit the Airport or the selected places for entering Nepal. We can also get in at any of its land borders. If you are willing to apply for a Nepal Tourist Visa On Arrival, then you to get it from TIA at Kathmandu or any of these above-mentioned places:

  • Kakarbhitta
  • Birgunj
  • Belahiya, Bhairahawa
  • Nepalgunj
  • Dhangadi
  • Mahendranagar
  • Kodari

So, we can't consider these two VISA as different. But, one thing is we can also get a Nepal Tourist VISA  from any of the Nepalese Diplomatic Missions from abroad, not only on arrival.

While applying for a Nepal Tourist VISA, you cannot complete all the procedures through online. However, you will get an online form to fill up through the official website of the Immigration Department of Nepal submitting with the purpose and the time you will stay in Nepal. Also, you need to submit all the documents required for a valid application process. Once all these are done, you can visit the nearby Nepalese Diplomatic Mission Center or you can also apply for an arrival VISA. Get the print of the form with a signature that must have been verified.

As there is no availability of eVISAS in Nepal, you can get it through the Nepalese Diplomatic Mission abroad or obtain it on arrival.

On Arrival Tourist VISA:

Here is a complete guide on how to apply for Nepal VISA On Arrival:

  • You can fill up the “On Arrival” form from the TIA airport or the selected places by the Department of Immigration. You can also go through online where you need to submit your form 15 days before you travel. You can skip long queues and border crossing if you fill-up the form online.
  • In case of physical, quickly fill up the form without any mistake. False credentials are directly rejected and kept under suspicious activities.
  • Fill up the "On Arrival" form at the airport. Fill it up using the Kiosk Machines which are available at the airport. 
  • After all the documentation and verification, you will be provided an applied day of VISA. Once it has expired, you need to fill up the form again.

Nepal VISA Charge

Once you have received the Nepal VISA application form, you need to go for payment of the VISA Fee. VISA fee changes and depends upon your staycation and other criteria. For the payment method, you can do it from the bank directly fulfilling the VISA requirement. Never forget to get your receipt. As there are many modes of payment and collection counters, we request you go with some cash to be on the safe side.
