Agriculture is presently the spine of the village economy, with locals farming millet, maize, rice, barley, potatoes, buckwheat, native peas, and beans. Conventional farming techniques such as hoeing and ploughing are still present in all hilly settlements. Cattle and sheep persist to graze on authorized kharkas (grazing land).
The indigenous people who live in the foothills of Nepal’s Annapurna Range were initially wandering tribes from Tibetan-influenced regions.
