As soon as you land in Kathmandu (1,400m) at Tribhuvan International Airport, a company representative will be ready to guide you to the hotel for a brief rest. Later on, you can start your city exploration by visiting UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The places you will visit notably include Swayambhunath Stupa with panoramic views of Kathmandu Valley and Kathmandu Durbar Square full of ancient temples and palaces. You can also have some time to stroll through the streets of Thamel, which is full of shops, cafe, and cultural vibes. You will have a calm evening, getting ready for the big day tomorrow.
Today is the day to admire the architectural and spiritual magnificence of Kathmandu. Firstly, you will have a chance to see the Pashupatinath Temple, which is a shrine devoted to Lord Shiva, one of the holiest Hindu shrines in Nepal. The next place you will visit is Bouddhanath Stupa, a large Buddhist stupa, a frequent place for pilgrims to visit. You will also visit the Patan Durbar Square known for its rich Newari architecture and temples. You can opt for dining out in a local restaurant and having a taste of typical Nepali cuisine.
Usually, after an early breakfast, a driving trip from Kathmandu to Pokhara (822m) which is about 200 km long and will take about 6-7 hours. You will be able to see the beautiful landscapes, river valleys, and hillside villages along the way. Once you reach Pokhara, you will be accommodated in the hotel and explore the beautiful Phewa Lake, ask your tour guide to include boating with the view of the Annapurna mountain range, as an alternative. Tal Barahi Temple will also be part of your itinerary, to see the small but yet significant temple in the middle of the lake, as well as to have a walk around Lakeside Pokhara, which is the perfect place to shop and relax.
Today you will be going to the attractive village of Ghandruk, located at 2012m and being a picturesque Gurung settlement are the points which are usually highlighted. Then hit the road for 3-4 hours along which you go through scenic hills and countryside. You will need to go to the Gurung village and have a look at the local culture and traditions. Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, and Machhapuchhre (Fishtail) are the peaks from Ghandruk visible to you from here. Make the evening special by treating yourself to local food and communication with the locals, allowing you to have the serene mountain atmosphere.
First thing first, the morning is always good in Ghandruk. After a rewarding morning in Ghandruk, you will drive back to Pokhara, which takes the same spectacular route as before. The rest of the day is all about the tour in Pokhara, which will include Davis Falls, a unique waterfall that disappears into an underground tunnel, and Gupteshwor Cave, which has a sacred Shiva temple. The World Peace Pagoda or the hilltop Buddhist stupa will also be visited next to the other two. It's getting late in the afternoon, but you might want to relax at Lakeside and enjoy the sunset over Phewa Lake.
Once you have finished your breakfast, you will have a 415m Chitwan drive ahead that totals around 5-6 hours. Upon reaching the village, you will be headed to the wonderful riverside Patihani for a homely stay while admiring the nearby Chitwan National Park. Today is a generally good day spent leisurely strolling along the Rapti River and watching some cool sunsets.
Don't just consider it a simple tour, instead celebrate the fun side of wildlife exploration and adventure in Chitwan National Park today and make your stay genuinely exciting. Following breakfast, you will be driving to Sauraha, the main tourist center of Chitwan. The key points of your jungle experience involve a thrilling jeep safari, where you may be in luck to see the rhinos, deer, wild boars, crocodiles, and maybe even the mysterious Bengal tiger. The Rapti River awaits you as well with a canoe ride where you can see crocodiles and several bird species. Furthermore, to keep everyone entertained the remaining part of the day will be spent at Lake Twenty Thousand (Bishajari Taal), a wetland and home to numerous plant and animal species that amaze one by their sheer biodiversity. Mark the end of the day with the traditional Tharu Cultural Program, an event enriched with dances and folk performances.
It's best to begin the day with an early breakfast and then set off to drive back to Kathmandu, which takes you about 5-6 hours. The idea may be teaching you how to consume time in making the last-minute shopping or sightseeing dependent on your flight program. Finally, you will be taken to the Tribhuvan International Airport for your onward flight, which will be the final step in your memorable 8-day Nepal tour.
