Namche Bazaar is the largest town in the Khumbu region and provides access to the first view of Mount Everest, Mount Lhotse, and Mount Nupste. However, an acclimatization rest day does not mean that you are not allowed to do some short trekking to nearby viewpoints like Thame or Khunde. Also, you may wish to check out the area, which includes the Tourist Visitor Center for the exhibition on Everest climbers, Sherpa culture, and varieties of local flora and fauna. You can also ascend to the viewpoint above Namche in the direction of the Everest View Hotel. From there, one can trace Mount Ama Dablam with relative ease. After the mesmerizing views of Mount Everest and Lhotse, a golden sunset will make your day. We retreat to Namche for the night after sundown.
On the fifth day, we will have a quick breakfast at Namche Bazaar and move towards Tengboche which will take you around 5 to 6 hours to reach there. Slowly you will start to get the real vibe of the Himalayas when you gradually increase the altitude and get closer to the foot of Mt. Everest. Well, the population at Tengboche is a little low but spending time with those Sherpas will be the best memory and you can enjoy fully gathering with them. Here, you will take a rest and have you stay at a tea house having a Nepali cuisine dinner. A the nighttime, you can enjoy dancing and singing hosted by Sherpas.
On the sixth day of your journey, you have to trek for a little longer than in previous days cause you have to reach the homestay at Dingboche. You will see some tea houses on the way but they are not homestays so there you will only have your lunch. To reach Dingboche you have to walk for approximately 5 to 6 hours. You will surely be enjoying the Tundra Climate of Dingboche at an altitude of 4,410 meters. It is the last village of Sherpas in the Khumbu Region where the estimated number of people is around 200. Once you reach Dingboche, you will directly get into the tea house where you will stay tonight.
You must trek a little further on the sixth day of your trip than on the other days since you need to go to the guesthouse at Chhukung. The hike from Dingboche to Chhukung is lovely and simple, taking around 2 hours. The road is primarily uphill, with challenging trails and smooth sections. As we hiked, the terrain varied, from rocky plains to little scrubby bushes. The path was wide in some spots and narrow in others, making the journey more interesting. Crossing a few frozen streams and hiking over stepping stones, added more thrill. The views of Dingboche in the distance made the hike appear tough, but the stunning scenery kept us going. The trail was serene, with no trees above the tree line, and the gorgeous mountains in the distance made the journey memorable. After a walk, we reach Chhukung, we get into the room and rest for the day having our dinner and staying.
On day 8, we will have a short break in Chhukung to allow your body to adjust to the greater altitude. Even though it is a relaxation day, we will not be lying all day. We will take a short ascend to Chhukung Ri. From the top, you'll enjoy amazing views of some of the world's highest mountains, including Mount Lhotse, Makalu peaks, and many others. This hike will help your body to adjust there. When we are done, we will be heading back to the tea house in Chhukung for a little rest and a nice lunch. Then we are going to spend the night there.
On day 9, we are going to depart early for a long day of trekking. We will travel to Kongma La Pass which is at 5,535 meters. This is one of the tallest passes, consequently, it will be a challenging climb. It is an uphill route, but the views at the summit will make it all worthwhile. After reaching the pass, we'll begin the descent towards Lobuche. The whole journey will take about 7 to 8 hours, which makes it a long yet worthwhile day. Once in Lobuche, we will rest and sleep overnight in a tea house.
At last, the day for which we have come arrives. We shall have breakfast and set off for the walk from Lobuche Village to Gorak Shep.
