The trek to Annapurna and Mustang starts from Kathmandu. Annapurna is known for its beautiful trees, flowers, and rushing rivers. You walk inside villages where the people grow grains and keep animals. The air is fresh, and all around you, the tall snowy peaks stand out. 

But Mustang is like stepping into a very old storybook. It is a dry and dusty land with cliffs of red and brown rocks. You see houses built like they're made of clay and wall fences covering ancient cities. You can feel the history here. You get to see how people lived for a long time in a land that is very tough yet beautiful. 

The Upper Mustang and Annapurna Circuit combo trek is one of the best ways to experience both of these beautiful places located in Nepal. After you land at the airport, you will head directly to your hotel. This day is for you to decide whether you can take a rest after your long flight. And if you have some time, you can stroll around the city and experience the thrill of being in an unknown country. In Kathmandu you will be able to see many small and big temples and people praying there. You will see small stores and many colorful things. You will see lots of small local restaurants and you can take this opportunity to try some of the Nepali foods. Kathmandu is busy and full of life. You can buy the last-minute things you need for your walk that you might have forgotten. You can bring warm clothes and a reusable water bottle.

Arrive in Kathmandu (1,400 meters)

Today is a long day that will be spent travelling in a car. You drive from Kathmandu to Besisahar. The road goes up and down hills. You will see lots of green fields and rivers. Besides that, you will also see small villages with houses made of stone. During the day, you will be able to see many locals working in the fields. From Besisahar to Bulbule, you will travel in a jeep. The Jeep is designed to go on rough roads. The remaining ride will be bumpy. But once you reach Bulbule it will be worth it as you will be able to see many beautiful hills, rivers, and more quiet and calm villages. The drive is long, but you see many things. You learn about the land and the people who live there. You stay in a small guest house in Bulbule. You will enjoy a warm dinner and get ready for the first day of walking.

Drive to Besisahar and Bulbule ( 800 meters)

Your day today will start with a drive. You go to Chame, which is where you start your walk. After reaching Chame, you will start your trek towards Pisang. You will walk through forests, see tall trees, small streams and big mountains with snow. You reach Pisang after a long day of walking. Pisang is a small village with colorful houses. In Pisang, you will see people working in the fields and children playing. Many old temples with people praying can be seen as well in this villiage.

Drive to Chame and Trek to Pisang (3,200 meters)

Today, you walk from Pisang to Manang. The path will take you up and down. Today, on your trek, you will walk through forests and rivers and see tall mountains with snow. Slowly, your walk will take you through small villages where you will be able to see houses made of stone. You see animals like yaks. And your journey will continue till you reach Manag. Manang is a big village compared to all the other small villages you have come across so far. You see many houses, small shops, and a big monastery. After some exploring, you will get to your guesthouse and take a good rest.

Trek from Pisang to Manang (3,500 meters)

Today you are staying in Manang. It will be your rest day today. This is good for your body. You can walk around Manang and see a lake called Gangapurna. Manag also has a monastery called Braga you should not miss out on visiting this monastery. Today is all about soaking in the beauty of Manang. Explore the place, and you will find so much to learn about. At the end enjoy some warm local food and take a good rest for your next day of walking.

Acclimatization Day in Manang ( 3,500 meters)

Today you walk from Manang to Yak Kharka. The path will go up, and you will have to walk on rocks, grass, and dry land. Today you will walk for many hours, and on your trek, you will be able to see many things, such as big mountains and animals like blue sheep. After much walking, you will reach Yak Kharka. Yak Kharka is a small place with few houses and wide places for yaks. You will spend your night here in a guesthouse, enjoy your dinner, and have a good sleep as you will be walking up a big hill tomorrow.

Trek from Manang to Yak Kharka (4,050 meters)

Today, you walk to Thorung Phedi, the bottom of a big hill. After many hours, you reach Thorung Phedi, which has a few houses and places to sleep. You find a place to sleep, eat dinner, and rest, getting ready for the hard climb tomorrow over Thorung La Pass. You need to sleep well.

Trek from Yak Kharka to Thorung Phedi (4,450 meters)

Today is a very hard day, as you walk over Thorung La Pass, a very high hill. You will start your day early, in the dark, walking up on snow and rocks, where it is very cold. You will need to wear warm clothes, walk slowly, and take breaks. Once you reach the top, you will see many very big mountains. Then, you walk down to Muktinath, a holy temple, where you see old buildings and people praying. You find a guesthouse to sleep and eat dinner. Rest well, as you will have yet another day of the long trek.

Trek from Thorung Phedi to Muktinath (3710 meters)

Today, you walk to Kagbeni. The trek to Kagbeni from Muktinath will go down. Starting today, you will be able to see dry land and red rocks. You will also be able to see mountains shining far away. It is going to be a beautiful day as you walk by a river and see small villages and animals like donkeys. Today's walk will last for a long time, and after a long walk, you will reach Kagbeni. Kagbeni is a small village that is the starting point of Upper Mustang. Here you will be able to see many things such as forts, a river, and many old buildings. At last, the day will come to an end, and it will be another great day of exploring and learning the culture of the Nepali people.

Trek from Muktinath to Kagbeni (2,800 meters)

Finally, you will be trekking in Upper Mustang. You will trek from Kagbeni to Chele. Your day today will be very similar to your day 9. You will walk on a path next to a river. The land is dry, and you see big red cliffs and caves in the rocks. You will walk up hills and down hills. After walking for many hours, you will pass small villages with houses made of mud and stone. You see donkeys carrying things and birds flying in the dry air. As you will be busy admiring the beauties of this special place, you will have reached Chele, a small village with houses close together. You will take a good rest today, and tomorrow, you will be trekking to Ghyami.

Trek from Kagbeni to Chele ( 3,050 meters)

Today, you walk from Chele to Ghyami. Your path will take you through deep canyons. You will now be able to see the sight of the Great Mani walls. After walking for many hours and past beautiful landscapes filled with beauty, you will finally reach Ghyami. Ghyami is a wonderful and welcoming village with a long wall.

Trek from Chele to Ghyami ( 3,520 meters)

Today is a big day because you will walk to Lo Manthang. Lo Manthang is the main city in Upper Mustang. Today, as you trek from Ghyami to Lo Manthang, you will see the city from far away. The city has big, tall walls that will attract your attention. In Lo Mantang you will see many old houses and old monasteries. You will also see people wearing traditional clothes. As you walk around the city, you will come across the king's palace and see caves. You can now rest well without any worries because tomorrow, we will be exploring the Lo Mantang. So take care to enjoy your warm meal and rest well.

Trek from Ghyami to Lo Manthang (3,810 meters)

Today, you stay in Lo Manthang. It is your day to explore the city. You will visit the king's palace and get to know about the history of the place. The king's palace is an old palace, and it is unlike any other palace you have seen. After that, you can visit the old monasteries. The monasteries are filled with paintings. You can take your time and admire the history behind the monastery and the paintings, and then you can move towards visiting the caves. Today is about exploring not only places but also people. Get to know the locals, and you will be able to learn a lot from them.

Explore Lo Manthang (3,810 meters)

On the fourteenth day, you walk from Lo Manthang to Dhakmar. Today, you will be walking on dry land where you will see red cliffs and canyons. Today you will walk for many hours and as you continue your walk you will see small villages, fields and animals. Mountains can also be seen, but they are far away. After your long journey of walking, you will reach Dhakmar. Dhakmar is a small village with red cliffs.

Trek from Lo Manthang to Dhakmar (3,820 meters)

Today, you walk from Dhakmar to Ghiling, following a path through canyons and over passes, where you see mountains and valleys. You walk for many hours, seeing different views of dry land, fields, and small villages, until you reach Ghiling, a village with a monastery. You will be staying the night here, so rest well.

Trek from Dhakmar to Ghiling (3,570 meters)

Today, you walk from Ghiling to Chhusang, following a path through dry land and overpasses. You see mountains, valleys, and the big Kali Gandaki river. After walking for many hours, you see different views. You will see small villages, fields, and animals until you reach Chhusang.

Trek from Ghiling to Chhusang (2,980 meters )

On day seventeen, you will walk from Chhusang to Jomsom. As you walk from Chhusang to Jomsom, you will be able to see many things, such as big mountains, dry land, and small villages. You will walk by the Kali Gandaki River. It will be a long day of walking. As you get near Jomsom, you will be able to see more houses and shops. Jomsom is a big town. You will be spending the night in Jomsom. After a long and exhausting day, you will get to your guest house and take a rest.

Trek from Chhusang to Jomsom (2,720 meters)

Today, you fly to Pokhara. Early in the morning, after having breakfast, you get to the airport. Today, you will experience another glance of the beautiful mountains from the plain. The flight is a short one, so you will reach Pokhara in only a short time. Once you land in Pokhara, the day is yours to enjoy. You can walk by the Phewa Lake. Visit the shops located in this city. Or you can also take this day to go to your hotel an relax. Enjoy some authentic Nepali dishes and lose yourself thinking back on your trip.

Fly from Jomsom to Pokhara ( 822 meters)

It's finally time to return to Kathmandu. After having your breakfast, you will travel back to Kathmandu in a car. Once again, you will be enjoying the natural beauty of Nepal. In this drive, you will be able to see rivers, small towns, and fields. Since the drive will be long, you will stop to have food. Once you reach Kathmandu, you will get to your hotel. If you have some time to spare, you can walk around the city. You can also call it a day and rest in your hotel.

Drive from Pokhara to Kathmandu (1324 meters)

Just like that, your Upper Mustang and Annapurna Circuit Combo Trek has come to an end. Today is your last day. You will get to the airport from your hotel and get on a plane. The journey, despite being long and difficult, will be returning with lots of memories. You will think about Mustang, Annapurna, villages, friendly locals, and the memories you made here. It will be a bittersweet moment, but you are now returning with memories that you will never be able to forget.
